The Stoddart name is and ancient one, heavily associated with the borders area of Scotland and Northumberland.  

Current research identifies our Stoddart line appears in Midlothian in the early late 1700s.  The the earliest known ancestor of our Stoddart line as being John or David Stoddart, however little is known of the family until Janet (Jessie) Stoddart who emigrated to Australia in 1879.
