My Eltinton Family


The Mouser name is either an occupational name for a vermin controller, or more likely in the Middle Ages was a nickname. It is found primarily in the East Anglia, specifically Norfolk and Suffolk.Eltinton is a variation of the the name Elkington - also seen as Elkinton ; Elkerton or Eltenton. Eltinton is believed to be a place names, derived from the anglicisation of  Ealac's dun which means a hill or fortress (dun) of Elta and is referred to as Eletone and Elletone in the Domesday Survey of 1087 

Current research identifies the earliest known ancestor of our Mouser Eltinton line as being William Mouser of Suffolk. Williams great great grand-daughter Lucy Mouser married John Jessop who emigrated to Australia in 1838 after her death.The Mouser James Eltinton of Leire Leicester. James grand-son Thomas Fullelove emigrates to Australia in 1863.

The Eltinton ancestry goes back 11 generations and biographies exist for some members as indicated by links
