James McFarlane (1805 - 1871

James McFarlane was born in 1805 in Dull Perthshire. He was the fifth child and the fifth son of John McFarlane and Ann Stewart.

James married Margaret Chisholm in ... Margaret was the first daughter and eldest child of Roderick Chisholm and Elizabeth McPherson

At the 1851 census, the family were living in Auchterarder, Perthshire and James 45 is noted as being a plasterer. He is living with his wife margaret and five of their sons (James 14 ; Elizabeth 12 ; Ann ; 7 ; Donald / Daniel 5  ;  George - 2 - Scholar ;  Roderick - 6 months

At the 1861 census, the family were living in Auchterarder, Perthshire and James 56 is noted as being a plasterer. He is living with his wife margaret and five of their sones (James 24 - Plasterer ; Donald / Daniel 15 - Plasterer ;  George - 12 - Scholar ;  Roderick - 10 ; John - 7

By the time of the 1871 census the family were living on Main St in Auchterarder, Perthshire and James at 66 is noted as being plasterer with his wife Margaret and their 3 youngest sones Daniel 25 (Post Messenger) ; George E 22 (Carter) ; John 17 (Post Boy)

John migrates to Australia as a remittance immigrant - paid for by his sister and brother in law... He arrives aboard the Roxburgshire on 30 Jun 1876 - Aged 22. He died just over 12 months later in Ipswich

DEATH. On the 6th January at Ipswich, Queensland, John McFarlane, sixth and youngest son of the late James McFarlane, plasterer, Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland, and brother-in-law to James Bain, Baths, Ipswich, aged 23 years.
