Historically the Jones name is of Welsh origins, derived from the given name John. It is especially common in Wales and south central England. 

Current research identifies our line of the Jones family hails from Glamorgan in Wales abt 1790. The earliest confirmed member of our Bashford line is Thomas Jones, however limited information is available about the family until his son - David Jones - emigrated to Australia
