My Cockburn Family


The Cockburn family is long associated with the Borders region of Scotland and noted as one of the Reiver Clans. </p>\n\n<p>Current research identifies our line of the Cockburn family first appearing in records in Midlothian in the mid 1700s. The earliest confirmed member of our Cockburn line is Alexander Cockburn. There are two distinct Cockburn families in my tree, we havent identified a link between the two families, however given their geographic proximity and the strength of the Cockburns as a Borders Clan, it is likely there is a historical - as yet unidentified - linkage
