My Poile Family

Poile is a very unusual name is of Anglo-Saxon origin, and is found almost exclusively in the south-eastern counties of England. It is a locational surname deriving from the place called Poyle in Surrey, formerly a village located near the the western end of Heathrow Airport. The name is often used interchangable with Pile in church records

Current research traces our Poile family back to Rolvenden in the mid 1600s, with the earliest ancestor identified as Henry Poile. It is his GGGG Granddaughter - Elizabeth Brown - who immigrates to Australia in 1856
