Cockburns of Berwick

Our relationship the Cockburns of Berwick has been identified through DNA testing, rather than thru birth records - through a match with George Cockburn 1789 - 1855.

Current research identifies the earliest known ancestor of this Cockburn line as being James Cockburn of Duns Berwickshire in lat 1600s. His ggg-granddaughter Lillias Cockburn who emigrated to Australia with her family in 1883.

The Cockburn ancestry goes back 9 generations and biographies exist for some members as indicated by links
