Our relationship the Cockburns of Berwick has been identified through DNA testing, rather than thru birth records - through a match with George Cockburn 1789 - 1855.

Current research identifies the earliest known ancestor of this Cockburn line as being James Cockburn of Duns Berwickshire who was born around 1690s. His GGG grand-daughter Lillias Cockburn who emigrated to Australia with her family in 1883.
