My Mansfield Family


Historically our Fullelove line hails from Liecestershire and Warwickshire, with the first record of the family in the late 1400s. Our Fullelove family has a well documented history thanks to Roger Fullilove. There is a full known family tree available on his site Roger Fullilove Family Tree Page. For more information check out the Fullelove name meaningThe name Mansfield is a locational surname, deriving from a parish in Nottinghamshire, Mansfield, a market town that dates back to the Domesday Book of 1086 where it was listed as Mamesfelde, but archaeological digs indicate population back to the Roman times. The place name itself is a combination of Celtic and Anglo Saxon Terms and literally means "open land by the River Maun", or "field by the hill called Mam". Mam is the Celtic word for breast.  

Current research identifies progenitor of our line of the Fullelove Mansfield family as being Richard Fullilove born about 1525 in Earl ShiltonWilliam Mansfield about 1800 in Leicester. It is his great, great, great, great, great, great grandson Thomas Fullelove who daughter Sarah Ann Starkey who marries Thomas Fullelove and immigrates to Australia in 1863.
