On 10 Feb 1672 he is recorded as the Leasee of Colliers Farm, Lostock. Colliers Farm, later sometimes called Pendleburys Farm, stays in the family for 6 generations, down to Peter Pendlebury Hartley.
He died in April 1697 and was buried at St Mary's the Virgin on Apr 8 1697.

n In the name of God amen the Sixteenth day of March in ye yeare of our Lord God according to ye Computation of ye Church of England One Thousand Six hundred Ninety Seven I John Pendlebury of Westhoughton In ye County of Lanc: Taylor, do make this my last Will and Testamt: in manner and forme following (that is to say) First and principally I Commend my Soule into ye hands of Allmighty God my Creater Hopeinge In and through the merits and mediation of my Blessed Saviour and redeemer Christ Jesus, To obtain life Eeverlasting And my Body to ye Earth from whence it was taken to bee Buried att ye parish Church of Dean in such Decent order and Christian manner as to my Executor hereafter nominated shall bee thought meet and convenient And as touching such wordly Estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent mee my Will and mind is ye same be Imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my Last Will and Testamt: is Expressed and declared CONT CONT
AND first of all as touching my Tenemts: it is my will and mind ye same be Disposed of according to ye Sighnemt: Given under my hand and Seale for that purpose CONT CONT
AND out of my personall Estate I Give and bequeath five pounds of lawfull money of England to George Withington my son in law to bee paid to him within twelve months next after my Decease and my woolen cloaths to my Brother James Pendlebury And as to the rest of my personall Estate after my funerall Expenses and Debts bee paid (if there bee any) I Give and bestowe ye remainder and reversion whatever unto my Son Roger Pendlebury And of this my last Will and Testament I do nominate ordaine & make my said Son Roger Pendlebury Sole Executor.
