Current research identifies our line of the McFarlanes as originating around Dull Perthshire in the early 1700s. The earliest known member of our McFarlane line is Patrick McFarlane. DEATH. On the 6th January at Ipswich, Queensland, John McFarlane, sixth and youngest son of the late James McFarlane, plasterer, Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland, and brother-in-law to James Bain, Baths, Ipswich, aged 23 years.
