Josias Bashford 1800 - 1880

Josias Bashford was born in September 1800 in Sompting Sussex. He was christened there on 12 October 1800. He was the third son and sixth child of of <ac:link><ri:page ri:content-title=\"Josiah Bashford 1759\" /><ac:plain-text-link-body><![CDATA[Josiah Bashford ]]></ac:plain-text-link-body></ac:link>and Sarah Moone .Josias was born after the family had been settled from Billinghurst into Sompting in 1792. Very little is known about the family in this period.Little is known of the Josiah before his marriage to Sarah Moone on October 11 1784 in Steyning, Sussex (the marriage was also recorded in Sompting, Sussex). Based on information provided by another Bashford research both made their mark on the certificate (indicating that they couldnt sign their name). Sarah was the daughter of Phillip Moone and Mary Clouser. She was born in Mayfield, Sussex in 1765 and died in september 1848 in Steyning Sussex.Josiah and Sarah had eight children (three sons and five daughters) between 1784 and 1806 :<ul><li>James Bashford (b. 1784 - d. bef 1881).
