Mary Pendlebury (1791 - 1865)
Mary Pendlebury was born on 20 Mar 1791 in Over Hulton in the parish of Deane, Lancashire. She was the eighth and youngest child and only daughter Henry Pendlebury and Mary Higson. Mary lived all of her early life in Over Hulton, where here father is noted as a Yeoman.
On 6 January 1814 Mary married James Higson at the Deane parish church - St Mary the Virgin - in Rumworth. James was the son of Richard Higson and Ellen Seddon
James and Mary had at least 11 children (eight boys and three girls) - six of whom lived to adulthood

It appeared that lived in Over Hulton until about 1830 where James worked as a Weaver until 1817 and then became a shop keeper through until about 1830 when the family moved to Daubhill, Rumworth and James went back to Weaving.

Daubhill - pronounced Dobble - was centred on the raised area close to the Stag Public House on St Helens Road. The Hill of Clay (Daub) was adjacent to the the railway crossing. Daubhill extends from Adelaide Street to Morris Green Lane.Rumworth measured about 2½ miles from east to west and average breadth was a little over a mile, its area was 1,244 acres (5.03 km2). The Church Brook flows down Deane Clough to join the River Croal which forms the northern boundary. To the west of the township is the Rumworth Lodge Reservoir. The Bolton to Wigan road passes Deane Church and to the east the Bolton to Leigh passes through Daubhill.
