Mary Higson (1748 - 1822)
Mary Higson was born in 1748 in Over Hulton, Deane. She is the sixth daughter and tenth child of Giles Higson and Sarah Lythgoe (and their second daughter with the name Mary). Â She was baptised at St Mary's the Virgin parish church on 13 November 1748
She married Henry Pendlebury on 2 February 1773 in Deane by Bolton, Lancashire. They had eight children:

In 1792 Mary received an inheritance upon the death of her father which continued to be leased to tenants and provided a form of income to the family:
Further I give and devise unto my daughter Mary (now wife of Henry Pendlebury) all those my messuages, lands, tenements hereditaments & premises with the appurtenances situate lying & being in Westhoughton aforesaid called the Round Thorn, now in the possession of Simon Seddon and Jeremiah Platt as tenants thereof to hold the said last mentioned messuages, lands, tenements hereditaments & premises with the appurtenances unto my said daughter Mary Pendlebury her heirs & assigns for ever, charged & chargeable nevertheless with the payment of the sum of twenty seven pounds to be paid to my Executors hereafter named & to be added to and disposed of in the same way and manner as the remainder of my Personal Estate.
It appears that the family continued to live at Over Hulton.
Mary died in September 1822, she was 74 at the time. She was buried on 24 Sep 1822 at St Mary the Virgin Parish Church in the township of Rumworth, Deane, Lancashire. Her burial was presided over by William WhitworthÂ
