Historically the name of Kettle is an ancient Viking-Scottish name that is derived from the old Norse personal name of Ketill or from the old Danish personal name of Ketil.

Current research identifies our line of the Kettle family hails from County Cavan in Ireland in the early 1800s. The earliest confirmed member of our Kettle line is Peter Kettle, it is his daughter Bridget Kettle who emigrates to Australia with her family in 1852.
