William Heyes (1782 -
William Heyes was born in Ainsworth, Middleton, Lancashire on 21 Aug 1782. He was most likely the 4th child and eldest son of James Heys and Sarah Kirkman. He was baptised on 11 September 1782 at the Cockey Moor Presbyterian Church in Ainsworth by Joseph Bealy. The event is registered in the non conformist register.
William married Mary Heaton by License at St Peters, Bolton Le Moors on 23 December 1802. The wedding was performed by the vicar Thomas Bancroft and witnessed by James Heaton and ? ? Scowcroft. We have not been able to find baptismal records for Mary, however given the childrens name, they are potentially John and Elizabeth. They both signed their namesÂ
In has proven difficult to locate other references to William. We do know that at his marriage in 1802 he was a weaver and is noted as being of the Parish of Middleton, whilst Mary was from St Peters.Bbetween 1804 and 1820 he and his wife Mary were living in Harwood (also spelt Harrod) in the Parish of Bolton
Between 1802 and 1873 the Mary and William had five (5) childrenÂ
