Robert Starkey was born in 1717 in Kegworth, Leicester. He second son and youngest of seven children of Robert Starkey and Anne Botterill. He was baptised in Kegworth on 11 October 1817.
On 2 July 1744 Robert married - by Banns - Anne Clarke at Jessey Walton. Anne was born ?, the daughter of ? .Â

I Robert Starkey of Kegworth in the County of Leicester Yeoman upon the serious thoughts of Death do in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority powers and authorities given and reserved to me in and by certain indentures of Leave and release bearing date respectively on or about the thirtieth and thirty first days of January one thousand seven hundred and seventy six and made between Thomas Osborne of Kegworth aforesaid yeoman of the one part and me the said Robert Starkey by the name and Description of "Robert Starkey the younger of Kegworth" aforesaid Husbandman of the other part or one of them and in and by a certain indenture of Feofment bearing date on or about the twenty second day of aprile one thousand seven hundre and eighty six and made between William Holmes of Kegworth aforesaid Basket Maker of the one part and me the said Robert Starkey by the name and description of "Robert Starkey the younger of Kegworth aforesaid Baker" of the other part and by force and virture of all and every other power and powers authority and authorities in me being or enabling me thereto by this my last Will and Testament in writing in manner and form following (that is to say) I do by this my last Will and Testament in writing by me duly executed in the presence of the three credible witnesses who name are here to subscribed as Witnesses to the execution hereof direct limit appoint give and devise All those my five Messuages Cottages or Tenements with the gardens and outbuilding there to belonging situate and being at the top of Mill Lane in Kegworth aforesaid in the several tenures of my eldest son William Starkey and of John Waldron, William Wheatley George Bannister and Robert Kitchen (one of which said Houses or Tenements was conveyed or assured to me by the said indentures of Lease and Release and the other four I have since built upon the land therein comprised. And all that my small piece or plot of land call the Pingle lying at the Bottom of the said Hill Lane in Kegworth aforesaid which was conveyed or assured to me by the said indenture of feofment together with their rights members and appurtenances unto and to the use of said son William Starkey his heirs and assigns forever. I als give and devise my dwelling house or Tenement at Kegworth aforesaid in the possession of Mrs Robinson (adjoining that wherein I now live) with the garden use of the pump and all other privileges which my late mother enjoyed therewith unto and to the use of my wife Elizabeth Starkey and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life.
