George was born in Sandon in 1646 He was the eldest son of Robert Bygrave and Avis ? at the time of his fathers death in 1697 he inherited significant properties in Sandon and Rushden, specifically

• Redhill, Sandon - Two cottage or tenements with barns, buildings, gardens, orchards, arable land, meadow, pasture ways, water courses
• Southhill Greene, Rushden - cottage or tenement with yards, gardens, orchards barns, outhouses and appurtenances 

George married Elizabeth Carrington at Sandon, Herfordshire on 27 November 1673. Elizabeth was born in 1647 in Watton At Stone, Hertfordshire - where she was baptised on 5 October 1647 - the daughter of Henry Carrington and Elizabeth ?

In 1693 - when his fathers will was drafted he is known to have had 5 living children
